Iowa’s U.S. Senators Chuck Grassley and Joni Ernst met with students from across Iowa this week, including some local ones, who were in Washington, DC to participate in the National History Day Contest.
The event celebrates student scholarship, and includes participants from all 50 states.
Several students from Storm Lake participated including Frank Arbizu Guerra, Eden Laguna Zavala, Fernando Ramirez, John Schwint, and Riak Tut.
During the contest, students present the history projects they’ve worked on for months and are judged on clarity of presentation and historical accuracy. Over the course of several days, they compete in preliminary and final rounds, and visit museums and historical sites to continue their research.
