Storm Lake Represented at Ecomonic Development Course

City of Storm Lake Development Services Specialist Lee Dutfield was one of 91 economic development professionals to attend the Heartland Economic Development Course last week.

The event was held in Blue Springs, Missouri from April 17th through the 21st. Attendees received fundamental economic development training on topics ranging from business, retention and expansion, workforce development, real estate development, and more. The 2023 Heartland class included representatives from Iowa, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and South Dakota. They were trained by nationally recognized faculty from within the profession of economic development.

The Heartland Economic Development Course is coordinated by the Institute for Decision Making at the University of Northern Iowa, and is accredited by the International Economic Development Council. The course is a partnership between the Professional Developers of Iowa and economic development agencies from several states in the Midwest.
