Storm Lake Received Nearly 500 Residence Photos in Effort to Eliminate Lead-Based Water Lines

The City of Storm Lake received photos from 485 residences late last year as part of the City’s effort to eradicate lead-based water lines.

The Environmental Protection Agency and the Iowa DNR are requiring all public water distributors to identify the material of water piping buried underground. Storm Lake has joined efforts in identifying several water lines. Residents were asked to locate a home water line either coming out of the basement or crawl space, take a picture of the water line close to the floor or wall, and email the photo to the city.

At Monday’s city council meeting, Storm Lake Mayor Mike Porsch thanked everyone who sent in pictures…

Everyone who sent in pictures was entered into a drawing for a cooler gift pack from ISG Engineering. The winner is Ruth Anderson at 709 Angier Drive.
