Storm Lake Pet Owners Issued Reminders by City

Storm Lake officials are reminding citizens to take certain steps to keep their pets and the public safe.

A news release states that Storm Lake has seen some issues lately, including dog bites that could have easily been prevented. Those who ignore the laws may be subject to citations and fines. Pet ownership in the city may be lost in the event of bite injury incidents.

Dogs should be kept on a leash when off the owner’s property including public parks and trails.

Pets must have their rabies shots. Residents should check with their veterinarian to make sure their animals are up to date on their vaccinations.

Dogs and cats are required to be licensed. Licenses are available at Storm Lake City Hall or Lake Animal Hospital for a modest fee.
