The City of Storm Lake and Iowa DNR are offering free reusable litter bags as they encourage outdoor enthusiasts to pick up litter.
A press release states that the quick-drying mesh bags can easily fit in a kayak hatch, bike bag, picnic basket, tacklebox, car trunk, or backpack. Individuals can pick up two litter bags for free at Storm Lake City Hall and other participating sites across the state.
The DNR’s “Keep It Clean, Keep It Fun” campaign started 14 years ago. Since then, more than 30 thousand bags have been distributed, aimed at Iowa’s water body communities.
Storm Lake is one of only two northwest Iowa communities participating in the campaign.
