Storm Lake Man Receives Felony Charge in Connection to Alleged Robbery

A Storm Lake man has been charged with robbery for an incident that allegedly occurred this past weekend in which a handgun was reportedly displayed.

According to Storm Lake Police, the department this past Sunday received a report of a robbery that occurred the previous evening outside of a residence in the 200 block of East 5th Street. Police spoke with a victim who reported that a male approached them, displayed a handgun, and demanded money while the victim was standing outside the residence. The victim didn’t report any injuries, and the suspect fled the area into a nearby apartment building. An investigation into the incident was launched.

Yesterday (Tues), the Storm Lake Police Department Entry Team and Buena Vista Sheriff’s Office Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at an apartment at 220 East 5th Street. The suspect, identified as 37-year-old Netipan Ludwig of Storm Lake, was located. During a search of the apartment, authorities allegedly located a BB gun pistol in Ludwig’s bedroom that matched the description of the weapon displayed in the robbery.

Ludwig was taken into custody and charged with 1st Degree Robbery, a class B felony. The Ottumwa Police Department also assisted in the investigation.
