Storm Lake Fire Department Open House Set for This Weekend

The Storm Lake Fire Department will host its 2nd annual Open House event from noon to 4pm this coming Saturday, October 21st at the fire station.

Local firefighters will be on hand. The public will be able to tour the fire station, as well as get a close-up view of the fire trucks, equipment, and gear. Kids will be able to visit the fire safety simulator to learn how to prevent fires and escape safely in an emergency situation. The Storm Lake Fire Department obtained the simulator unit earlier this year.

A live fire sprinkler demonstration be held at 1pm. Firefighters will demonstrate the Jaws of Life tools at 2pm and show how trapped accident victims are rescued from a vehicle. A helicopter ambulance will be landing on site at 3pm, weather permitting.

Free educational materials will be available for both adults and children throughout the event.
