Storm Lake Driver Accused of Felony OWI After Weekend Stop

Storm Lake police say a local man is facing multiple charges after an early morning traffic stop over the holiday weekend.

Around 2:16 a.m. Sunday, an officer pulled a vehicle over at East Fifth Street and Geisinger Road. Police identified the driver as 33-year-old Chester George of Storm Lake.

According to investigators, George showed signs of alcohol impairment during the stop. Officers conducted an on‑scene investigation and allege he was intoxicated. When they attempted to take him into custody, police say he physically resisted arrest before being subdued.

George was transported to the Buena Vista County Jail and is now charged with third offense OWI, a Class D felony; driving while barred, an aggravated misdemeanor; driving while revoked and interference with official acts, both simple misdemeanors. He was booked and held on an $8,300 bond.
