Storm Lake Council Endorses Mid-Year Report, Highlights Citywide Progress

The Storm Lake City Council officially acknowledged the 2025 mid-year report, following a unanimous vote earlier this month.

The mid-year report serves to update the public on progress toward council-established goals and directives, the status of ongoing projects, and the efforts and achievements of each city department, says City of Storm Lake Communications Coordinator Dana Larsen.

The report outlines progress across departments and highlights several milestones reached in the first half of the year. Among them: continued investment in street improvements, updates to the city’s water and wastewater systems, and steady momentum on housing development initiatives.

City finances remain stable, with general fund revenues tracking ahead of projections. Expenditures are also in line, with most departments operating within their allocated budgets.

The report noted progress in public safety, including equipment upgrades for police and fire services, and ongoing recruitment efforts to fill key positions.

Councilmember Meg McKeon praised the revisions and the work behind creating the report.

McKeon also applauded city departments for their work.

Looking ahead, Mayor Mike Porsch encouraged broader public outreach, noting that much of the city’s work goes unseen.

The full report is now available at Storm Lake City Hall, online at stormlake.org and on the City of Storm Lake’s Facebook page.
