Two Storm Lake Residents Killed in Highway 7 Crash Near Manson

Two Storm Lake residents were killed and three others injured in a two-vehicle crash near Manson Saturday night.

The Iowa State Patrol says a westbound van crossed the center line on Highway 7 around 10 p.m., striking an eastbound pickup truck three miles east of Manson. Both vehicles left the roadway. The van rolled into a ditch; the pickup hit a utility pole and came to rest in a field.

26-year-old Alondra Bravo and 34-year-old Jorge Perez Hechavarria died at the scene. Injured were 8-year-old Luis Bravo, 46-year-old Marina Escalante, and the van’s driver, 46-year-old Wilfredo Quevedo Mesa—all from Storm Lake. The pickup driver, 21-year-old Conner Darr of Manson, was also hurt.

Troopers say three passengers were unrestrained, seated on patio furniture in the back of the van.
