Storm Lake City Council Passes Amendment That Ties in With Several Proposed Projects

The Storm Lake City Council this week passed an amendment to the industrial park urban renewal plan.

The amendment gives the City more funding to go toward several proposed projects including a remodel to the King’s Pointe Resort, resurfacing Memorial Road, a project in the spoil site recreation area, and a water reuse system project.

Mayor Mike Porsch noted that those projects haven’t actually been approved, but they are part of the urban development, and the amendment is needed to allow additional Tax Increment Financing and other dollars to go toward the projects.

The King’s Pointe upgrades would include a complete update and refurbishment of the indoor and outdoor water parks, updating the event and banquet facilities, and remodeling all guest rooms.

Amenities that have been discussed for the spoil site include a nature park, hiking and biking trails, a dog park, natural play areas, as well as several sports fields.
