State Audit Report Released on Pocahontas County Solid Waste Commission

State Auditor Rob Sand today (Thur) released an audit report on the Pocahontas County Solid Waste Commission.

According to the report, the Commission had total receipts of over 433-thousand dollars for the year ended June 30th, 2023, an increase of nearly 2.7-percent. Disbursements for the year totaled nearly 420-thousand dollars, an increase of less than one-percent.

Sand reported two findings related to the receipt and disbursement of taxpayer funds. The findings address a lack of segregation of duties and a lack of evidence of independent review of the monthly bank-to-book reconciliations. Sand provided the Pocahontas County Solid Waste Commission with recommendations to address each of the findings. One of the findings is repeated from the prior year.
