Two local schools are being recognized in the Carrie Chapman Catt Award program for registering eligible high school students to vote.

South Central Calhoun High School in Lake City is one of 40 schools recognized with a trophy for registering at least 90 percent of eligible students to vote. This marks the first time SCC has received the recognition.

Storm Lake St. Mary’s is one of eight schools that will receive a commemorative banner for registering at least 70 percent of eligible students to vote.

The Carrie Chapman Catt program was created by Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate in 2019.
