SLHS Student-Run Store Donates $1,200 to BVRMC AWARE Program

Storm Lake High School’s student‑run store, The Campus Corner, has donated more than $1,200 to the Buena Vista Regional Medical Center’s AWARE program.

The funds came from October’s “Pink Out” shirt sale, featuring apparel designed by students.

Superintendent Dr. Stacey Cole says the effort shows students combining entrepreneurship with philanthropy, reflecting the values of the Storm Lake community. She adds the district is proud of the Tornadoes for going above and beyond to support those in need.

The Campus Corner is guided by instructors Bailey Hauswirth and Nichole Krager. This fall’s class includes Dani Drey, Ethanray Etnold, Val Flores, Brandon Gomez, Drew Hogrefe, Sunnie Lee, Aaliyah Phompong, Alekxa Rodriguez, Ruby Rodriguez, and Luis Trujillo.

The store was launched to give students real‑world experience in marketing, finance, and retail management. They also work hands‑on with product design, store layout, and production equipment. The class is preparing to open a physical location to showcase its work and serve the community.
