Several Public Measures Pass Around the Area ; Schaller Crestland School Measures Fail

Sioux Central School District voters passed a physical plant and equipment property tax levy as part of the city/school elections with 78 percent in favor. The levy will be used to finance a future auditorium, renovated ag space, and growth in the district’s academic area.

Ida County voters passed a bond issue with 78 percent approval, which will provide upgrades for medical services.

Pocahontas County voters approved the issuance of up to 8.5 million dollars in bonds to go toward a new law enforcement center. 70 percent voted in favor.

A pair of public measures were voted down in the Schaller Crestland School District. A measure for construction of an additional 12 classrooms only received 36 percent approval, and another to increase taxes for the additional classrooms also failed with 35 percent in favor. A bond of over 15 million dollars was proposed for the project.
