Sac Sheriff K9 Receives Donation of Body Armor

The Sac County Sheriff’s K9 has received a bullet and stab protective vest.

According to a news release from the Sac County Sheriff’s Office, the vest is provided thanks to a charitable donation from the non-profit organization Vested Interest in K9’s Inc. The organization was established in 2009, and its mission is to provide bullet and stab protective vests and other assistance to dogs in law enforcement and agencies throughout the United States. The Vested Interest in K9’s group has provided a total of over 55 hundred vests since its inception.

The program is open to dogs that are at least 20 months old and actively employed and certified with law enforcement or related agencies. K9’s with expired vests are also eligible to participate. There are an estimated 30 thousand law enforcement K9’s throughout the country.

Vested Interest in K9’s Inc. accepts tax-deductible contributions in any amount. A single donation of 985 dollars will sponsor one vest. Go to www.vik9s.org.
