New Children’s Computer Installed at Storm Lake Public Library

The Storm Lake Public Library has added a new children’s computer to its youth area, thanks to support from the volunteer group Friends of the Library.

Library Director Elizabeth Huff says the previous children’s computer had reached the end of its service life and could no longer be updated or repaired, leaving the library without a dedicated workstation for young users.

Funds raised through community donations allowed Friends of the Library to purchase an Early Learning Workstation from AWE Learning, which has now been installed and is available for public use. The touch‑operated computer does not require a keyboard or mouse and includes a wide range of educational games designed to support early literacy, math skills, school readiness and creative learning. For safety and privacy, the workstation does not connect to the internet.

Families are invited to visit the library to explore the new addition.

Friends of the Library is continuing its focus on improvements to the children’s area this year, and information is available for anyone interested in joining the volunteer group or supporting future projects.
