More Arrests Made in Connection to Event Center Fight in Storm Lake

Additional arrests have been made in connection to a fight that occurred at the Oasis Event Center in Storm Lake during the early morning hours of December 24th.

Yesterday (Sun) Storm Lake Police arrested 22-year-old Isaiah Rivera of Cherokee after he surrendered himself to authorities. According to witness statements and video surveillance, Rivera displayed a handgun during the incident and pointed it at other persons inside the event center. Rivera fled the scene prior to the arrival of police. Warrants were subsequently obtained for his arrest.

Rivera has been charged with Participating in a Riot, Going Armed With Intent, and Assault While Participating in a Felony, all class D felonies.

On December 28th, Storm Lake Police arrested 30-year-old Yusnavy Cruz of Storm Lake on a charge of Participating in a Riot.

On December 27th, 31-year-old Yoandri Barista Valdes of Lakeside was arrested and charged with Participating in a Riot.

Rivera, Cruz, and Valdes have all been booked into the Buena Vista County Jail, each on a five-thousand dollar bond.

The alleged fight happened on the dance floor area of the Oasis Event Center. During the incident, a male victim was rendered unconscious after getting struck in the head by a chair.

A total of seven individuals have now been arrested in connection to the fight. Storm Lake Police are still trying to identify one additional male suspect involved in the incident.
