MidAmerican Energy Holds Meeting in Ida County Regarding Proposed Wind Turbine Expansion Project

MidAmerican Energy is planning a wind turbine expansion project in Ida County.

MidAmerican held a public meeting with county residents on Wednesday, which is the initial step required by the Ida County wind ordinance. The county already has in excess of 200 turbines, and MidAmerican wants to add another eight to 16 to meet what they say is a β€œgrowing need for energy in Iowa.

MidAmerican Energy is seeking landowners in Ida County who are interested in having turbines placed on their property. Several who were in attendance at the meeting voiced their opposition to additional wind turbines, claiming they pose a danger and are a nuisance.

MidAmerican says it takes those concerns seriously, but hope they can garner support for the project.
