Latest Iowa Drought Monitor Map Shows Slight Setback

While northwest Iowa drought conditions are basically unchanged, the latest Iowa Drought Monitor map shows a bit of a setback statewide.

The map released this (Thur) morning shows nearly 56 percent of the state is at least abnormally dry, up nearly three percent from last week. Over 9.5 percent of the state is in moderate drought compared to almost seven percent last week.

Moderate drought continues to show up in sections of northwest Iowa, including most of O’Brien County and portions of Cherokee and Clay. Parts of southwest and eastern Iowa also have moderate drought. Some of Buena Vista County is still abnormally dry, while the rest is normal.
