Man Injured in Clay County Motorcycle Accident

A man was injured in a motorcycle accident this past weekend in Clay County.

According to the Clay County Sheriff’s Office, the accident happened at 3pm Sunday in the 31 hundred mile of 330th Avenue. 44-year-old Wayne Sorgdrager of Hartley was operating a motorcycle near Lost Island. Sorgdrager left the roadway and entered the west ditch after he failed to negotiate a curve while traveling southbound. The motorcycle reportedly struck the ditch and Sorgdrager was thrown from the bike and he landed in the ditch. The motorcycle came to rest just short of the spot where he landed.

Sorgdrager was transported by the Spencer Ambulance Service to the Spencer Hospital, where he was treated for non-life-threatening injuries to his chest, arms, and legs. Sorgdrager will be cited at a later date for Failure to Have a Valid Motorcycle Endorsement, and Failure to Provide Security Against Liability. The motorcycle sustained an estimated 17 hundred dollars in damage.
