Man Arrested After Throwing Punches at Storm Lake Police Officer

A man was arrested following a confrontation early this (Tues) morning in Storm Lake in which he attempted to assault a police officer.

According to the Storm Lake Police Department, officers were called to the 200 block of West Milwaukee Avenue at approximately 4am today (Tues). The caller stated that someone was trying to hurt them. Officers located the caller, identified as 52-year-old Philavanh Satibanjong of Storm Lake. As an officer began speaking with Satibanjong, he began swinging at the officer multiple times with a closed fist and attempted to grab items on the officer’s duty belt. Satibanjong was ultimately subdued and taken into custody.

Satibanjong was charged with Assault on an Officer With Intent to Inflict Injury, a class D felony…Removal of an Officer’s Communication or Control Device, a serious misdemeanor…and Interference With Official Acts, a simple misdemeanor. He was booked into the Buena Vista County Jail on a 63 hundred dollar bond. No injuries were reported from the incident.
