Laurens authorities arrested a local woman early Saturday morning after a Pocahontas County deputy stopped her vehicle and allegedly found methamphetamine during the search.
According to the Pocahontas County Sheriff’s Office, the traffic stop happened around 1 a.m. on Aug. 1 at Section Line Road and North Rush Lake Road, where deputies pulled over a red Toyota Corolla driven by 46‑year‑old Amy Heitman of Laurens.
Deputies say evidence recovered during the stop led to Heitman’s arrest on first‑offense possession of methamphetamine, a serious misdemeanor, along with possession of drug paraphernalia, a simple misdemeanor. She was taken to the Pocahontas County Jail to await her initial court appearance.
The Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office assisted with a K9 unit.
