Iowa Ending Mandatory Reporting of Postive COVID Tests

The Iowa Department of Health and Human Services will end the mandatory reporting of positive COVID-19 tests that are processed in clinical labs, and it will also end its weekly reports, both starting in April.

Health officials say the numbers are no longer accurate, as home tests are now inexpensive, plentiful, and don’t have to be reported. Free home testing kits will be available from Test Iowa through year’s end.

Nearly 23-hundred Iowans have tested positive for the virus in the last week. There have been 30 positive tests reported from Buena Vista County over the last week. Over ten-thousand 600 Iowans have died due to COVID.

President Biden has called for an end to the national public health emergency on May 11th. The COVID pandemic first reached Iowa in March of 2020.
