Iowa Drought Gets More Extensive

There’s no change in Extreme Drought around the area in this week’s Iowa Drought Monitor, as Extreme Drought is still showing up in portions of Cherokee, Sioux, Plymouth, and Woodbury counties.

A little over nine-percent of the state is now at least in Severe Drought, up slightly from the previous week. All of that is in northwest Iowa, including most of Buena Vista County.

The percentage of Iowa that is at least in Moderate Drought has jumped to over 30-percent, up nearly 13-percent from last week.

Over 60-percent of the state is at least Abnormally Dry, close to a four-percent increase from the previous week.
