Former East Sac County Teacher Sentenced to Prison for Having Sexual Relationship with Student

A former East Sac County teacher was sentenced today (Mon) in Sac County District Court to serve 15 years in prison for having a sexual relationship with one of her students.

According to the Sac County Attorney’s Office, 35-year-old Stefanie Kelsey was sentenced to serve ten years in prison for 3rd Degree Sexual Abuse, a class C felony…and five years for Sexual Exploitation by a School Employee, a class D felony. Kelsey pleaded guilty to the charges two months ago. Several other charges were dismissed.

Kelsey committed the offenses with a 15-year-old male in March of 2022. She was arrested on March 11th of last year. According to criminal complaints, Kelsey and the student had sexual contact on multiple occasions in a vehicle at Hagge Park, and also at Kelsey’s residence in Sac City. A concerned parent had reportedly notified the Sac County Sheriff’s Office after hearing rumors about the relationship.

Kelsey was a special education teacher at East Sac High School.
