An apartment building in Storm Lake was heavily damaged by a fire over the weekend, which led to multiple residents being displaced.
The Storm Lake Fire Department responded to a basement fire at 1008 East Milwaukee Avenue at approximately 3:30pm Sunday. Upon arrival, crews encountered heavy smoke and fire in the rear of the building. Two firefighters were evaluated by EMS and released on scene.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. The Alta, Newell, and Rembrandt fire departments assisted at the scene.
