Fire Damages Cherokee Residence

A house in Cherokee sustained heavy damage from a fire this past weekend.

According to the Cherokee Fire Department, several agencies were called to the fire at 722 West Main Street shortly before 3pm Saturday. The single-family two-story residence sustained heavy smoke damage on each floor and heavy fire damage to the kitchen. No injuries were reported, although one pet died. Another pet was missing, and another made it out alive.

The fire is under investigation but is not deemed suspicious at this time. Firefighters were on the scene for two hours.
