The latest Iowa Drought Monitor shows considerable improvement in the state.
According to the map released this (Thur) morning, nearly 28 percent of Iowa has no drought designation, close to double the amount from the previous week.
Approximately 13 percent of the state has moderate drought, down from over 29 percent last week.
Moderate drought is still showing up in northwest Iowa, including most of O’Brien County, and smaller portions of Cherokee and Clay. Northwest Iowa counties are at least abnormally dry, including all of Buena Vista.
Nearly an inch of rain has been measured outside the radio stations since late last week. Showers and thunderstorms are likely in the area today (Thur) and tonight, and there are chances early next week as well.
