BV Supervisors Approve New Voting Machines

The Buena Vista County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday approved the purchase of new voting machines.

Election Deputy Karla Ahrendsen said the county’s current equipment is near the end of its life expectancy. The new equipment will include touchscreen machines, and Ahrendsen said she would like to put two of them at each voting precinct in the county. The cost of the equipment is nearly 86-thousand dollars.

Ahrendsen said her department wanted to be on the front end of new equipment before the 2024 election. She said it might be ready for the city and school board elections later this year.

The Supervisors also approved the courthouse lawn to be used for the Memorial Day Parade of Flags ceremony.

Buildings and Grounds Superintendent Joe Keller said eight flags have been received so far to be inducted by the Storm Lake Parade of Flags Foundation.
