Cherokee Man Sentenced in BV District Court to Serve Prison Time on Theft and Drug Charges

A Cherokee man was sentenced this week in Buena Vista County District Court to serve up to five years in prison on drug and theft charges.

42-year-old Christian Wunder previously pleaded guilty to Possession of Methamphetamine 3rd or Subsequent Offense, a class D felony…and 4th Degree Theft, a serious misdemeanor.

According to a criminal complaint, on February 1st of 2020, Wunder stole over 350-dollars in merchandise from the Storm Lake Walmart.

In early April of 2021, Wunder was arrested by Storm Lake Police for possession of drugs and other charges after his vehicle was stopped for a minor traffic violation. During a search of the vehicle, authorities discovered methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug equipment. Wunder was transported to the BVRMC Emergency Room for a pre-incarceration screening, where he became uncooperative and resistant, causing damage to a wall, and kicking an officer. Wunder was found to have active warrants for his arrest in Buena Vista and O’Brien counties for failure to appear on multiple charges.
