Alta Hometown Pride is launching a new Alta Farmers Market this summer and is inviting local vendors to take part.
The market will open Wednesday, July 1, and will be held 4-6 p.m. every other Wednesday at the Buena Vista County Fairgrounds in the southwest grass area. Market dates for 2026 include July 1, July 15, July 29, Aug. 12, Aug. 26, Sept. 9 and Sept. 23.
Organizers say the market will feature locally-grown produce, homemade goods, handmade crafts and other items from area growers, makers and small businesses. The event is intended to give residents and visitors a place to connect, support local entrepreneurship and celebrate community talent.
The market is currently seeking vendors, including gardeners, farmers, bakers, artisans, crafters, small businesses and community groups. Vendor guidelines and participation details are available by emailing farmersmarketalta@gmail.com.
The market is organized by a volunteer team — Peg Hinkeldey, Sally Van Houten, Joanne Hirschman and Tom Lane — who have worked with Alta Hometown Pride to bring the new community event to life. Residents can follow the Alta Farmers Market on Facebook for updates and vendor announcements.
Alta Hometown Pride says the market is part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen community connections and expand opportunities for local residents.
