Sammi Thompson - General Manager
Hi, I’m Sammi Thompson, the General Manager here at Storm Lake Radio. While I’m new to Iowa, I’m no stranger to rural living. My son and I recently relocated from Wyoming, and we’ve absolutely fallen in love with Storm Lake! I’ve been in radio since 2012, and I truly can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s a career that’s fun, fast-paced, and allows me to connect with incredible people every day. When I’m not at the station, you’ll likely find me lost in a great book or catching up on Marvel movies (or rewatching them for the hundredth time). I’m proud to be part of such a vibrant, welcoming, and diverse community, and I’m excited to help Storm Lake continue to grow and thrive.

Kirk Langner - Administrative Assistant/Office Manager
Hi, I’m Kirk—though around here, I go by "The Captain." At 26, I’ve transformed a passion for music, storytelling, and (admittedly) bad puns into a dynamic and fulfilling career. Born and raised in Schaller, Iowa, I bring a diverse set of interests to the table—including farming, photography, substitute teaching, and storm chasing. My love for broadcasting began early, singing karaoke, blasting music, and imitating DJs, always wondering if I could make a living doing what I love. Spoiler alert: I did! I began my professional journey at Storm Lake Radio as a Board Operator in 2017. I then became a part of the production team in 2024, and moved to an On-Air Talent position in the spring of 2025, and have since transitioned into the role of Office Manager. Beyond broadcasting, I’ve held several leadership and management roles across a range of businesses and organizations since high school—giving me over eight years of valuable, hands-on experience. I’m also involved in a number of side projects and entrepreneurial ventures, keeping my schedule full and my energy high. I thrive in fast-paced environments, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.
