Tornadoes Drop A Pair Of Games At Le Mars

The Le Mars girls basketball team, ranked 7th in 4A, beat Storm Lake 58-44 Friday night and the Bulldog boys team made it a sweep with a 59-58 victory.

After trailing 24-20 at the break the Le Mars girls would open the 3rd quarter on a 11-3 run to take the lead for good. Jaelyn Marienau led three players in double figures with 17 points. The Tornadoes were led by Adeeya Yanga’s ten while Grace Kenkel and Avery DeHaan each scored nine. The Bulldogs move to 10-2 overall while Storm Lake falls to 7-4.

The Le Mars boys never trailed in their win. They had a 13 point lead early in the 4th quarter and held on for the win. The Bulldogs made 9-of-15 from the arc while Storm Lake made only 2-of-16 from downtown. Storm Lake was led in scoring by Cam Boyd, Jaidyn Coon, and Justin Guynn with each scoring 16 points. The Tornadoes fall to 6-3 and the Bulldogs move to 4-7.

The Storm Lake girls host Ridge View Monday night and both teams will play at Alta-Aurelia next Thursday.
