Tornado Teams Stay Perfect In Lakes

The Storm Lake softball and baseball teams swept visiting E-L-C Monday night as both teams stay atop the Lakes Conference standings.

The softball team made quick work of the Midgets winning 9-1 in five innings. Grace Kenkel hit a pair of doubles and drove in three runs. Winning pitcher Avery DeHaan struck out eight batters. The Tornadoes are now 11-4 and 5-0 in the Lakes.

In the baseball game, Drew Hogrefe delivered an RBI infield single scoring pinch runner Chase Mathistad and the Tornadoes walked off E-L-C 5-4 in eight innings. Rylan Richardson threw 1 2/3 innings in relief of starter Carson Taylor and picked up the win. Trey Boettcher led the Tornadoes at the plate going 3-for-3 with two RBI and Bobby Boeckman gunned out a runner at home plate from left field to end the top of the 8th inning to keep the game tied.

The Tornadoes are now 10-4 overall and 5-0 in the Lakes. Both Tornado teams will play at E-L-C Thursday night. Both teams play at Carroll Tuesday night and the baseball game will be broadcast on Mix 101.7 KAYL.
