It was a good Friday night in Estherville for the Storm Lake basketball teams as the Tornado teams will head into the Holiday break on a winning note.
The Storm Lake girls beat the Midgets 56-39. Grace Kenkel scored 17 points, Reagan DeHaan added a career high 14 and Avery DeHaan tallied eleven which leaves her six points shy of one-thousand points for her career. With the win the Tornadoes are now 4-4 overall and 1-2 in the Lakes Conference. Their next game is Friday, January 2nd at home against Pocahontas Area.
In the boys game, Tim Yanga scored a career high 22 points leading four Tornadoes in double figures as the Green and White rolled over E-L-C 82-34. Cam Boyd scored 19, Jaidyn Coon had 16, and Garbieno Weno chipped in with ten.
The Tornadoes made 17-of-22 shots in the 2nd half and shot 61-percent for the game. They are now 6-0 and improve to 3-0 in the Lakes Conference. Their next game is Tuesday, January 6th at Newell-Fonda.
