The Cherokee girls basketball team, ranked 10th in class 3A, beat Storm Lake 69-44. Kadyn Volkert was 8-of-13 from the arc and scored a game high 27 points and the Braves move their overall record to 11-3.
The Tornadoes trailed 39-29 at the half. They were led in scoring by Grace Kenkel’s 12 points and Dikaia Dahlhauser added eleven. The Tornadoes are now 7-9 overall and will play again next Tuesday at Denison-Schleswig.
The Tornado boys defeated the Braves 85-48. Jaidyn Coon led five players in double figures with 25 points. Storm Lake is now 13-1 overall. The Tornado boys will play again Monday when they host Carroll-Kuemper.
