For the second time this week the Storm Lake softball team defeated Spirit Lake with a shutout victory. Avery DeHaan scattered four hits and the Tornadoes blanked the Indians 8-0 in five innings Thursday night at Spirit Lake.
Abby Bodholdt capped off a five run 1st inning with a 2-run homer. Nadya Hinojos went 2-for-3 with 2 RBI and Cole Richardson had two hits including a double as the Tornadoes picked up their 5th win of the year and moved their conference record to 2-0. Click below to hear from head coach Tony Statz.
The Storm Lake baseball team scored six runs in the 1st inning on their way to a 12-9 win vs. Spirit Lake. Rylan Richardson pitched five innings to pick up the win. Bobby Boeckman led an eleven hit attack going 3-for-4 with an RBI. Carson Taylor belted a 2-run homer. Storm Lake is now 5-3 overall and 2-0 in the Lakes Conference.
The Storm Lake teams both host their own tournament Saturday. The baseball team will play Sioux Center at 10am and Woodbury Central at 2pm. The softball team takes on Denison-Schleswig at 10am and then plays AHSTW at 1:30pm.
The Storm Lake teams return to conference play Monday at Cherokee.
