Storm Lake Girls Soccer falls to BHRV at home

The Storm Lake Tornado girls soccer team fell to the Boyden-Hull-Rock Valley Nighthawks 5-2

The girls’ game saw the Nighthawks strike twice in the first ten minutes, first with Ashtyn Kelderman at 38:23 then Bridgget Gonzalez at 31:49 to give the Nighthawks a 2-0 lead. The game would settle out before the Nighthawks would add to their lead again. This time Mariana Vazquez would add a tall to give the Nighthawks the 3-0 lead with 12:58 to go in the half. After that the Tornadoes would score a pair of goals in the final eight minutes of the half both scored by Jezebel Ocegueda (8:03 and 3:39). The game would go to the half with the Nighthawks leading 4-2. The Tornadoes would have a strong push throughout the second half but would not score. The only tally of the second half would come on a tip-in by Kylie Blankespoor with 21:53 to go in the second half. The Nighthawks would go on to win 5-2. The win improves the Knighthawks to 3-8 (ending a three-game skid) and the Tornadoes would fall to 1-9. UP NEXT: The Tornadoes will play at Sioux City West on Monday Evening.

The Tornado boys team also fell on the road to the Nighthawks 2-1 in double-overtime, the team ends the regular season with a record of 5-7 and will play in the 3A-Substate 1 Semi-Final at Denison-Schleswig on May 20th at 7 pm (the game will be broadcast on KAYL)
