Storm Lake Football Wins Season Opener

The Storm Lake football team hosted Saydel Friday night and the Tornadoes won the game by a final of 50-30.

Saybel scored on the opening drive of the game to take a 7-0 but the Tornadoes scored the next 30 points of the game and never looked back.

Storm Lake senior quarterback Charlie Dvergsten accounted for 417 of Storm Lake’s 495 yards of offense. He was 22-of-33 for 331 yards and four touchdown passes and ran the ball ten times for 86 yards including an eleven yard TD run.

Rylan Richardson had nine receptions for 130 yards and two scores, he also had a three yard touchdown run. Cam Boyd had four catches for 76 yards and a score, Luke Richardson had four catches for 58 yards and a TD.

Saydel, who trailed 38-16 at the half had 464 yards and scored touchdowns on plays of 43, 83, 45, and 72 yards.
