| STORM LAKE, IOWA – August 11, 2026 – The Step Up Storm Lake committee invites area residents to participate in this year’s Step Up Half Marathon, Half Marathon Relay, and 5K, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026. Runners and walkers are encouraged to register before the August 15 price increase to lock in lower rates and guarantee a quality dri-fit event t-shirt. All events will take place at King’s Pointe Resort: • 7:00 AM: Half Marathon (USATF certified) and Half Marathon Relay (note the earlier start time this year). • 8:00 AM: 5K Run/Walk (strollers welcome). • Waves start at 9:15 AM: A new, free kids’ event will take place on the Awaysis Great Lawn for crawlers, young walkers, and children interested in shorter distances. All event proceeds directly benefit the Ready Set Grow Learning Center in Storm Lake. Ready Set Grow provides affordable, creative, and high-quality early childhood education—a critical resource for local families. Volunteers Needed The committee anticipates 150–200 participants and is seeking local volunteers to ensure a smooth event. Opportunities are available for packet pickup on Friday, September 4, as well as race-day roles including barricade setup, water station management, and finish line support.
