Newell-Fonda outscored George-Little Rock 19-1 in the 2nd quarter and built a 28 point lead at the half as they ran away to a 71-37 win Wednesday night in a 1A regional final played at Cherokee.
Ellie Sievers scored 14 of her team high 17 points in the first half and the Mustangs had four players score in double figures as they picked up their 22nd win of the season. Rylee Hogrefe and Jocee Walsh each had eleven points and Quinn Sievers chipped in with ten as the Mustangs advance to the State Tournament for the 9th straight year.
Newell-Fonda, the #2 seed, will now play Saint Ansgar Wednesday, March 4th at 5pm in the quarterfinal round. The game will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA. Click below to hear from head coach Dick Jungers.
