South Central Calhoun basketball teams sweep past OABCIG

–The South Central Calhoun Titans basketball teams swept past the OABCIG Falcons with the Titan Girls winning 58-46 and the Titans boys winning 69-50

–The girl’s game saw a good battle in the first quarter with the Titans getting out to a 7-0 lead three minutes into the game. The Falcons would fight back to cut the lead to 12-10 at the end of the first. The Titans would open the game up in the second scoring 21 points in the frame and leading 33-16 at the half. After being down as many as 25 in the third quarter the Falcons would fight back to cut the Titan lead to 12 points in the fourth. The Titans would go on to win 58-46.

The win improves the Titans to 3-7 while the loss drops the Falcons to 0-9. Jenessa Kolar led the Falcons with 13 points, the Titans were led by Bre Patterson with 20 points and Macie Dorman with 16 points.

–The boy’s game saw the Titans and Falcons go toe-to-toe for three quarters. The back-and-forth battle saw both teams lead in the opening frame as the Falcons led 15-11 after one. The second quarter saw three ties including the halftime score of 21-21. Both teams would explode in scoring in the third quarter the Falcons led most of the quarter until Gavin Batta down the stretch in the third hit four three-pointers in a row giving the Titans the 47-41 advantage after three. The Titans would carry the moment into the final quarter outscoring the Falcons 22-9 en route to the 69-50 win.

The win improves the Titans to 6-3 (extends winning streak to 6) and drops the Falcons to 3-5. The Falcons were led in scoring by Brysen Kolar with 12 points and Kade Spotts added 10, and for the Titans Gavin Batta led all scoring with 38 points (9 in the first half, 18 in the third quarter and 11 in the fourth quarter), Cole Higgins added 11 and Keegan Soard added 10.
