The Storm Lake girls basketball team overcame a ten point deficit in the 3rd quarter to win at Ridge View tonight (Mon) 43-27 in their first game of the new year.
Ridge View led by five early on, but Storm Lake went on a 6-0 run to get what was their only lead in the 1st half. The score was tied 7-7 after the 1st quarter. The Raptors ended the 1st half on an 8-0 run to take an 18-10 lead into the break.
Ridge View built a 22-12 lead early in the 3rd quarter, when Storm Lake came to life with a 12-0 run to take a 24-22 lead, and they wouldn’t trail again. Ridge View tied the game at 24-24, but a three by Avery DeHaan gave the Tornadoes the lead for good, and they were up 29-24 going to the 4th quarter. Storm Lake strung together 19 straight points, and held the Raptors to nine points in the 2nd half.
Adeeya Yanga scored a game high 13 points for Storm Lake, which included 7 in the 4th quarter. DeHaan had 11, and hit three of the team’s six threes. Amy Slight scored all 7 of her points in the 4th.
Shea Dutler led the Raptors with 10 points. Ridge View has now dropped four straight, as they sit at 3-6. Next up, the Raptors girls and boys play at MVAO-COU tomorrow (Tues). The Ridge View teams play at OA-BCIG this Friday, January 13th, which will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA.
