Kenkel’s Career High Helps Tornadoes Win Season Opener

The Storm Lake girls basketball team opened their season with a 59-34 win over visiting South Central Calhoun Tuesday night.

Grace Kenkel scored a career high 21 points on 10-of-15 shooting from the field and Avery DeHaan added 20 points on 7-of-13 shooting including 6-for-10 from the arc.

As a team Storm Lake shot 45-percent from the floor making 24-of-53 shots including 8-for-12 from the arc.

The Titans were led by Macie Dorman’s 15 points. The Titans will play again next Tuesday when they host South Hamilton. The Tornadoes will play again next Tuesday when they host Sioux City-North (part of a varsity double-header).
