The Storm Lake United Foundation is proud to announce that the inaugural Gary LaLone Classic Golf Outing raised $5,500 to support the Foundation’s efforts to strengthen local businesses and enhance the quality of life in Storm Lake and Buena Vista County.
Held on June 5, the event brought together golfers, sponsors, volunteers, and community supporters for a day of friendly competition and community impact. Proceeds from the outing will help fund programs and initiatives that support business development, downtown improvements, entrepreneurship, and projects that contribute to the long-term vitality of the community.
“The success of the Gary LaLone Classic is a testament to the generosity and community spirit that makes Storm Lake such a special place,” said Laura Hanks, Executive Director of Storm Lake United. “We are incredibly grateful to our sponsors, golfers, volunteers, and everyone who helped make this event possible. Their support will have a lasting impact on our community.”
The tournament was established to honor the legacy of Gary LaLone and his dedication to community involvement and service. Organizers hope the outing will become an annual tradition that continues to celebrate his contributions while investing in the future of Storm Lake.
Funds raised through the outing, combined with the generous commitment from ISG announced earlier this spring, will help launch the Storm Lake United Foundation’s grant program. ISG has pledged $25,000 over five years to support the Foundation and its mission of strengthening businesses and enhancing the community.
Grant applications will be available this fall and will provide funding opportunities for local businesses and property owners seeking to invest in their growth and improve the community. Eligible projects may include building improvements, façade improvements, signage, equipment purchases, business expansion projects, and other investments that create a lasting positive impact in Storm Lake and Buena Vista County.
“The support we’ve received from ISG, our golfers, sponsors, and community members demonstrates a shared commitment to investing in the future of Storm Lake,” said Hanks. “These funds will allow us to provide meaningful assistance to businesses and property owners looking to improve, expand, and contribute to the long-term vitality of our community.”
Storm Lake United Foundation extends its sincere appreciation to all sponsors, participants, and volunteers who contributed to the event’s success.
