Coon Named Iowa’s Mr. Basketball

Storm Lake’s Jaidyn Coon has been named Iowa’s 2026 Mr. Basketball by the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association.

The 6-7 senior averaged 22 points, nine rebounds, and three assists per game this past season helping Storm Lake to the semifinal round of the 3A State tournament and 24 wins.

Coon is Storm Lake’s all time leading scorer with 1,692 points. He also ranks 2nd in school history in rebounds with 733, 3rd in assists with 230, 2nd in steals with 133, tied for 1st in blocked shots with 111, and is 4th in all time for made 3-pointers with 117.

The future Creighton Bluejay also holds the school record for field goal attempts, field goal makes, free throw attempts, and free throws made.
