Boyd–Big 3rd Quarter Lift Tornadoes To Win

Cam Boyd scored 21 of his game high 29 points in the 3rd quarter and Storm Lake opened up post season play with a 73-30 win over Denison-Schleswig in a game played at Tornado Fieldhouse.

The Tornadoes led 30-16 at the half and then scored 32 points in the 3rd quarter to break the game open. Garbieno Weno added 15 points and Trey Boettcher scored 12. Jaidyn Coon played for the first time since February 3rd and scored 4 points. Coon had limited minutes in the game but took all of three seconds to score the games first basket on a dunk.

The Monarchs were led by Blaine Grady’s eight points and they finish the year with a record of 4-19. Storm Lake is now 21-2 and will host Algona (16-7) Thursday night at 7pm. Click below to hear from Boyd and Tornado coach Evan Franzmeier.
