A familiar face in northwest Iowa coaching will be inducted into the Iowa Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Al Pierce, who led Laurens-Marathon to the 1989 Class A state championship will receive the honor at a banquet February 28th in Altoona.
Pierce was a head coach for 23 years at Laurens-Marathon, LM-ACT (Northwest), and Spencer compiling a 125-81 record. After his head coaching days Pierce spent 13 years serving as an assistant football coach at Buena Vista University and since then he has helped the Spencer football program along with other sports at Spencer.
