The Storm Lake basketball teams hosted Denison-Schleswig Thursday night at Tornado Fieldhouse and the Tornado girls pushed their record to 3-0 with a 70-37 win over the Monarchs. Adeeya Yanga scored 20 points and grabbed eight rebounds, Maddy Raveling scored 12, MacKenzie Harder and Avery DeHaan each chipped in with ten. The Tornadoes outscored the Monarchs 35-9 in the 2nd and 3rd quarter.
The Denison-Schleswig boys raced out to a 15-0 and held Storm Lake scoreless for the first seven minutes of the game in their 68-40 win. Josh Steffen led the Tornadoes with 12 points, Charlie Dvergsten scored all nine of his points in the 2nd half, and Jaiden Coon added seven points. The Tornadoes were 6-for-34from the arc and shot 27-percent from the field for the game.
The Storm Lake teams will play again next Tuesday at Emmetsburg starting at 6pm, both games will be broadcast on 92.9FM KKIA
